Nature and Architecture Cersaie and ExpoGreen, two of the most important international tradeshows held in the Bologna exhibition centre, have reached an agreement to create Green Street, a major new exhibition event. The aim of the agreement between Cersaie, the international exhibition of ceramic tiles and bathroom furnishings, and the International outdoor exhibition ExpoGreen is to pursue sustainable development through the promotion of green spaces and the use of ceramic tiles, a product created from natural raw materials using a process that minimises environmental impact. The event will run from the beginning of ExpoGreen (11–13 September 2009) until the end of Cersaie (29 September–3 October) and will be located in a more than 4,500 square metre external area alongside hall 32 in the Bologna exhibition centre. This large green space will be open to visitors to both international shows and will feature specific theme areas. Green Street consists of Biolago (Bio-lake), a faithful reproduction of a lake; the Fattoria del futuro (Farm of the future), a zero-impact structure which will also feature vegetable gardens; the Bosco Magico (The Magic Wood), an outstanding expression of topiary art; the Labirinto (Maze), a ceramic maze with walls formed from hedges; the Giardino in corso (Garden in progress), a work in progress consisting of flowerbeds and green spaces; and Giardini (Gardens), a nationwide competition for landscape architects who will offer their own interpretations of green spaces through eye-catching exhibits. |
